A Simple Prayer for the Day - Blog # 26

Every week, I have to wonderful opportunity to share with you all the thoughts in my mind through my blog. My walk with God, school life, finances, ministry, family, friendship, and my emotional growth have all been topics I've touched for the past several months.

Today, I just want to keep it simple! Just a prayer for today, whatever day you're reading this, I invite you to pray with me.

Prayer is simply talking with God. It's cool how with everyone else it's "talking" to them but when the person you're talking to is God then it has its own higher form and name "prayer". You can talk with God about your day, your feelings, that weird itch on your body, the worries and doubts, and the moments that made you laugh.

Prayer can get so dry when we think of it from a consumerist mindset. What can God for me today? What does God want from me? We forget God is a person, a Being, and He's got His own life, plans, hopes, and dreams. He laughs at jokes. He smiles down on us. God sings over us. God is living.

If you have any conversation with a person, you'll know that a lecture is when you talk at someone. You have no interest on their input. You just say what you need to say and then leave. What they have to think on the matter is not much weight to you. We've all had professors or classes like that.

Yet, if you have a real conversation it happens in turns. You speak, then the other person shares and the cycle continues. You care about what your partner has to say. You're interested in their thoughts. You shift topics based on how the conversation carries. It's dynamic. Fun. You share laughs. You smile. You wait on them to finish what they have to say.

A simple prayer for today can go like this:

God,

I thank You for You. You are the best! I like the weather You chose for today. I'm happy You love me. I love You lots. I love that You know me and care for me. Life is not perfect or easy, but I wouldn't want to go through without You with me. God, You give me life and hope. You make even the simple things beautiful. You make joy a constant and daily experience. You are my best friend!

What's on Your mind today? What are You thinking about? What did You feel when You look at me?

(Then you pause. You can still think. This isn't a silent meditation time. It's an open invitation. You welcome God to speak. You ask Him to open your heart, your ears, your eyes, and your mind to Him. God wants to talk with you. He wants you to know Him. He created you to know Him.)

Thank You God for sharing with me too. I care about what You think. What You feel, say, and experience matters to me. Teach me how to be a better friend to You.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen
