Health Fair Prayer - Eyes on the Prize # 11

Hi guys! I just served at a health fair today, and I wrote this prayer to myself and God in my quiet time, and I just wanted to share it with you before I write an official write-up of the community health fair and my thoughts!

Prayer

God, thank You for such a great health fair. I wanted to go a bit later, but I realized if I’m actually serving You then I want to be on time. I want to serve well. I’m not volunteering for hours or recognition. I’m not seeking a letter of recommendation. I don’t need to get hours for my application. I’m doing this because I want to. I’m spending my Saturday serving because I love You.

Thank You for giving me the opportunity to serve and give out reading glasses. I definitely felt shaky because there were curve balls, but in the end it turned out great. I’m thankful I got to volunteer. It was honestly a wonderful experience. Lord, You’re awesome! You did that. You care for people. You care for us. I care about this, Lord. I love what I can do. I love that I was able to give to You because You always give to me. And I know that You didn’t need me to do this. I know that You don’t need me to serve You to be loved.

God, I want to thank You for the time I get to spend doing what I love. I love the calling You’ve given me. I couldn’t do this without You by my side. You’re fighting for me. You gave me this opportunity. I know You didn’t give me these privileges to waste. You didn’t give me what I have so I could hoard. I’m still learning, but I know that You’re the best teacher like all good fathers are.

Each day, I learn more about You. I learn to love You more. I learn to love other people more. I learn that my problems don’t keep me from being a vessel of Your goodness. If anything, my problems open me up to being able to pour more and serve more. A broken vessel knows what it means to be fixed and used and treasured more deeply than a perfect vessel. I’m thankful that You chose me. Everyday You choose me. I am chosen. You made me special. Thank You, Lord.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen
